Filming blog

Hey bloggers! My partner and I decided that we wanted to start filming on Sunday, November 29, 2020. We made to plan to meet up. We decided to film at my house in my neighborhood, so my friend drove to my house. A few days before that I knew that we needed somebody to help us film. Some of our scenes included both of us to be in it together. So I was thinking about some people that lived in my neighborhood that I can ask. I asked my neighbor Oreamo if she could help us and she happily agreed. While shooting the scenes we were looking for different backgrounds in my neighborhood. In total there were 12 different scenes so we wanted at least six different backgrounds. We walked around and around to look for different places to go to. When we were filming some of the videos it was a little bit awkward. For example, looking into the camera was a bit awkward because we didn’t quite know what to do.But after a while we got used to it and got looser. The song we chose to do was brown skin gir...

Hey bloggers! My partner and I will be making a music video. We drew out pictures of what we’re gonna do for each scene. This is to keep us organized and do you know what scene is after what. We have decided that we are going to meet up. We feel that if we meet up in person to film this music video, it’ll be executed nicer. In the first scene, we will be showing The actor looking into a mini mirror with a close-up shot. In the second scene there is, The other actor will be looking into the camera. We will be using a canted Dutch angle with a mid shot.In the third scene, this will be us showing our environment around us, this is where our backgrounds will be.In the fourth, it consist of the two actors flipping their hair while walking on walking away, We will be using the tracking shot to film. The fifth seem, Includes the actors standing with the background blurred. This film will be filmed with the long shot. In the sixth scene, there would be one of the actors walking in a r...

Hey bloggers! In trying to execute this music video well, my partner and I will use our time wisely. The song we will be using is brown skin girl by BeyoncĂ©. We have made specific days when we’re going to do the different parts and making this music video. On November 19 we are going to start the storyboard blog. First we’re going to work together to draw out each scene and make it as creative as possible. We want a lot of diversity in our different scenes and want to do different things. Since there are going to be 12 boxes, we will draw as detailed as we can to explain what each scene will be about. After that we are going to make the blog and finish it on November 20. We are going to meet up on November 25 in order to film this video. We feel like the music video will be executed well if we are in the same location. We will meet up at my house and shoot in my neighborhood. I have cool backgrounds to make it look clean. We will only meet up one day so we have to make it count. For co...

Hey bloggers! We will be doing a music video for the song Brown skin Girl by BeyoncĂ©. The genre is afrobeat’s. Afrobeat’s originates from West Africa. Afrobeat’s normally uses musical instruments. For example, the most used instruments are drums and piano. These instruments are also utilized as props. Additionally, money and cars are props . They want to show a different side of African Americans than what is normally shown in the media. Afrobeat’s music is upbeat and includes dancing in their videos. The settings of their videos take place in a variety of areas. This includes but is not limited to random places in the cities, parties, etc. The costumes used usually have African print, feathers, headwraps, and movable clothing. They use these items to represent the norms of their culture. They also have vibrant colored clothing. These videos always have black people. They have a diverse amount of shades of African Americans. However, the ages range from kids to adults and the gender ran...

Intro Blog music video

Hey bloggers! In this blog I will be making a one minute video. I previously just made a 30 second commercial from scratch. In making that commercial it really taught me a lot. I’ve never made a video by myself before so in making that is definitely going to help me with this music video. The only difference is that I will have a partner. I will be working with my partner that I worked with on the genre interview. We work well together so we decided to do it for a second time. We were deciding what song that we both liked and wanted to do. It was very hard because they were a couple options but we had to narrow it down to our top two. It was between “brown skin girl” by BeyoncĂ© and a song by the artist H.E.R. These two have something in common. They are about black women. We wanted to do a song that empowers black women and shows that every black woman is beautiful. My partner and I are of the African-American race so we just wanted to do something that was close to our heart. In the e...

Creative critical reflection questions

1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  The commercial I decided to talk about Is the iPhone. The iPhone is a popular phone line of touchscreen smartphones by Apple Inc. In the advertisements used to promote these iPhones, there are a variety of tactics put in place. Another tactic is upbeat movement and dancing which is what I did. As seeing that I'm doing an iPhone advertisement I'll be having a couple of props. The main prop being an iPhone 7 plus. Other props include headphones, charger, and phone box. In my commercial, I will be the only be in two scenes in the video. My costume will consist of a causal outfit. For example, jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers. During planning for this project I am going to use my time wisely and try and add some creative ideas in the advertisement. This represents social groups because it can show people how well the iPhone works and would make them want ...

Commercial blog

I  finished my commercial blog on November 3, 2020 . I have never even attempted to think of me making my own commercial. I have been watching commercials, shows, movies all my life and never realize how much was put into it.  I’m thinking on doing this project I thought it would be very quick and easy, I was wrong. The amount of time and patience that took to do this commercial was a lot. Even though this commercial is only about 30 seconds it took me a while to  actually construct it together. Although this was a fun project to do, it was a little bit stressful. I was using iMovie and Funimate which are both video editors.  At first I tried to only use iMovie but my phone wasn’t allowing me to add music to the background. For fun are used to make pictures of myself into videos and I used to use the app Funimate. So I put two and two together and thought collaborating to two would work .The amount of times I had to switch and do my videos on each of these apps and p...

Editing blog

Image
I started to edit some of the videos on November 2, 2020.  First I wanted to make sure that all the videos were there and in order. With editing each video I had to snap off the unneeded ends and make it a little shorter. I also needed to crop out unneeded space. I didn’t want my commercial to be too long so it is about 37 seconds. I was nervous about adding the voice over a few of the scenes because I didn't know how it would turn out. I was also scared that the videos would not merge together but I the end it did. The scenes with the iPhones in them, we’re a little long. So I snapped off a few seconds of each of the three videos. After every video was shorter and the tie I wanted, I put voiceovers over them. In the voice overs I wanted to talk about iPhones a little bit and see/show what was included with the iPhone package. I wanted to put these three videos spaced out with something  different in between each of them. The Second scene was  was the baking cookie scene....

Filming blog

I started to film on October 31, 2020. While filming this commercial there were some ups and downs. For example, my dad was supposed to help me film two of my scenes but then he had to suddenly go out of town so that couldn’t work. I tried to think of other people that I can asked to help me film. In one of my scenes a required movement and I couldn’t just prop up my phone and move it at the same time while I was the person that was supposed to be in that scene. I asked my mom if she could help me and she said yes. So in filming this blog I have to first plan out everything in my mind and what I was going to do. I thought about the different scenes and the different places that I would want to take each scene. The first scene was me showing the iPhone box which, the iPhone was the main product of the commercial. I tried to hold my phone at an angle that wasn’t showing any shadows but still had a good lighting to showcase the box. One of the difficult parts of this scene was when I need...
