Creative critical reflection questions

1.
How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

The commercial I decided to talk about Is the iPhone. The iPhone is a popular phone line of touchscreen smartphones by Apple Inc. In the advertisements used to promote these iPhones, there are a variety of tactics put in place. Another tactic is upbeat movement and dancing which is what I did. As seeing that I'm doing an iPhone advertisement I'll be having a couple of props. The main prop being an iPhone 7 plus. Other props include headphones, charger, and phone box. In my commercial, I will be the only be in two scenes in the video. My costume will consist of a causal outfit. For example, jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers. During planning for this project I am going to use my time wisely and try and add some creative ideas in the advertisement. This represents social groups because it can show people how well the iPhone works and would make them want to buy it.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

As a first attention grabber, In editing I will add cool transitions and background music. Those two alone are essential to a good and creative film. In these different locations, I'll think of creative to use the iPhone. In the kitchen, I will be making something and then I'll ask ask Siri a question. In my backyard, I'll be exercising and then be curious about something then ask a question. In my bedroom I will be showing the iPhone box and talking about the iPhone facts. When the promotion is being played and you hear a burst of great music it puts you into a good mood. A smile is always on the actors faces when shooting the promotion. This could make it seem like having an iPhone is something to be excited about. When dancing and indulging into happiness and smiling, this might persuade someone to buy the phone thinking that the phone might give them that same feeling.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

My production skills have improved by first learning how to edit with iMovie. Using iMovie taught me how to crop and trim my videos well and how to do voice overs instead of screen recording. I also learned how to add music to a video in the back. I’ve never had to add music before so I had to take some testing before I really again understood how to work it well. I feel like music can be an essential part of a production because it adds creativity and something different into your product. I can always use the skills that I learned in future classes. For example, in this media studies class. I can use this eveneven if I wanted to do a project for myself just for fun. For example, The first scene was me showing the iPhone box which, the iPhone was the main product of the commercial. I tried to hold my phone at an angle that wasn’t showing any shadows but still had a good lighting to showcase the box. One of the difficult parts of this scene was when I needed to show my iPhone I also want to learn iPhone to record the scenes.

4. How did you integrate technologies software, hardware and online in this project?

I’m this project, I was using iMovie and Funimate which are both video editors.  At first I tried to only use iMovie but my phone wasn’t allowing me to add music to the background. For fun are used to make pictures of myself into videos and I used to use the app Funimate. So I put two and two together and thought collaborating to two would work .The amount of times I had to switch and do my videos on each of these apps and put it together is crazy. Sometimes the sound wasn’t on time or the speed was different. So there was a lot of trimming and cutting when finalizing this commercial. Before this project I’ve never attempted it before so it was a learning process for me. In the end it turned out well. Lastly I had to export the whole video. Although I already knew how to export different documents, exporting this video took a bit longer than my other regular documents. Since this video was very long and took up a lot of space, and when I was trying to get in it took a while to load.
