Title research: Antebellum

 What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

Antebellum begins with an escape attempt by a group including Veronica and her friend Eli (Tongayi Chirisa), leading to the murder of a nameless slave woman by gunshot. After the bloodshed, Eli remarks that they must try again, but his character disappears for a long stretch before that happens.

 - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

Antebellum is filled with evocative imagery and shots that resonate. So, too, do they get a fantastic performance from Janelle Monáe, who appears in her first leading role. Appearing in every scene of the movie, This is more than apparent in the film’s brilliant opening moments, an eight-minute-long tracking shot that is.

 - What connotations do these images carry?
It shows how Janelle Monáe is such a great actor.  From the image or you can definitely tell that it was supposed to be taken in the olden times. The camera quality is amazing. It also showed a little girl and a yellow dress walking on the plantation. It is clear that she is the masters daughter. You also see army men and slaves working on the plantation as well.

 - How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?
At the beginning of the movie there is definitely a sound that is playing that makes it quite scary and mysterious. It is a violin that is playing such a suspicious song. This creates some suspense. Also at the beginning it has a quote that says “ The past is never dead. It’s not even past” that “really does spark some questions in my mind.

 - What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
The target audience is most likely viewers that really like whore and thriller movies. So just buy the suspenseful violin playing at the beginning. This automatically draws in people that love to get scared and love the thrill.

 - How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions 
and editing techniques
At the beginning of the clip, there was a tracking shot. This gives a different angle than just a regular angle. The camera quality is very clear. It makes it easy to point out the little details that I seen in the clinic we’re going to damage to rain.  There are just a variety of camera angles and traditions that just  makes the clip a bit different each scene.

I started to film on October 31, 2020. While filming this commercial there were some ups and downs. For example, my dad was supposed to help me film two of my scenes but then he had to suddenly go out of town so that couldn’t work. I tried to think of other people that I can asked to help me film. Hey bloggers! My partner and I will be making a music video. We drew out pictures of what we’re gonna do for each scene. This is to keep us organized and do you know what scene is after what. We have decided that we are going to meet up. We feel that if we meet up in person to film this music video, it’ll be executed nicer.  Hey bloggers, it’s Tiffanie again. My partner and I have been planning this film. We have been giving each other different ideas on what we should do. We feel like the more creative it is the weather. We were thinking about filming this Saturday. But turns out my partner will still be out of town. Hopefully by the time she gets back will still have a lot of time. Since it’s a long film it will most likely take a lot of time. We might not be able to meet up two days back to back. So we are hoping that one day will be enough although it might take a lot of the day. We have a clear plan in our head on what it should look like but we hope it turns out the way we wanted it to.We are going to try and do really queen transitions and have good backgrounds to make the film look more presentable.
